RESIN
This is the highest cost ribbon. It is used in the most demanding thermal printing situations. The higher the Resin content, the more durable the image produced. It is smudgeproof and used mostly on sythetic substrates like UL-CSA, circuit boards, or outdoor applications.

WAX/RESIN COMBINATION
This is the mid-range cost ribbon that offers better smudge resistance. It is used on thermal paper labels and tags and also many synthetic materials such as Kimdura, Tyvek, and many of the clear poly substrates.

WAX
Perfect for most thermal printing applications. It is the lowest cost ribbon but still produces a clean,crisp image
on most thermal paper stocks. The down-side is that depending upon the application, it may not be durable enough (usually that means smudge-proof).
