QCM TEXTILE INKS

MODIFIERS: "Glacier Whites" are ready to use. Modification is not necessary unless you're trying to achieve a special effect or use. Any extenders will affect opacity. QCM's DT-01 detackifier can be added at a ratio of 1-2% (not to exceed 5%) to reduce viscosity while maintaining opacity. XOLB-158, XOLB-159 and XOLB-151 have excellent shelf life and with cool storage will maintain their creamy consistency.

SUBSTRATES: "Glacier Whites" are designed to provide maximum opacity on dark fabrics, 100% cotton or cotton/poly blends. They have excellent "low-bleed" qualities. In particular, see above for XOLB-159 and XOLB-151 GLACIER INKS and their bleed resistance.

FINISH: "Glacier Whites" cure to a very flat and smooth finish. Excellent for a base plate or used as a highlight. Smoothness requires filling the nap of the weave. A more open screen may be needed for better opacity. Off contact allows the screen to clearly break away from the surface of the garment.

CURING: Recommended cure temperature is 325 degress F (160 degrees C) for 90 seconds, depending on the curing unit and thickness of ink deposit. The ink film must be heated throughout to thoroughly cure. When thoroughly cured the ink is 100% washable. Low wash temperatures and cool dryer settings are recommended. Do not iron or dry clean. Turn inside out to wash and dry for the most durability.

FLASH CURING: Depending on your flash unit, "Glacier White" will flash in 3 seconds, (10 watts per sq. in/heating area) or 4-5 seconds (6-7 watts per sq. in./heating area).

PRINTING RECOMMENDATIONS: Screen meshes in the range of 74-110 (29-43cm) are recommended for best opacity. So creamy the Glacier Inks print easily through a 230 mesh without reducing for maximum opacity. Direct emulsions, capillary film or indirect stencil films are all suitable for screen preparation. Screens of 20 n/cm or higher are strongly recommended. If using lower tension screens adjust off contact accordingly. Use just enough squeegee pressure to deposit the ink on the surface of the shirt. This enhances opacity and helps ensure a good cure. Try not to drive the ink into the fabric. Squeegees in the 60-70 durometer range, round or sharp edge depending on preference, work well.
