Large Valve Bag

We offer two sizes.  The smaller one will hold approximately 1/2 pound of roasted coffee while the large bag will hold approximately a pound.

These special valve bags feature a sturdy zip-lock type recloseable seal, a clear heavy vinyl front (so your recipient can admire your beans!) and nicely decorative gold foil back.  They are designed to stand up, so they are both pretty and useful.  Great as gift bags.

These bags over come that problem with a special one-way valve that allows excess carbon dioxide to escape, while keeping oxygen out.  This way your roasted coffee stays fresh longer.  While we normally recommend storing your fresh roasted coffee in an air tight container (we most often use the old fashioned canning jars--the kind with the metal latch and the big rubber seal), sometimes you need to transport your coffee, or you'd like to give it as a gift to share the wonderful taste and aroma you have discovered as a home roaster.

Green coffee is pretty forgiving about how it is stored, but freshly roasted coffee produces a lot of carbon dioxide due to the sugars in the bean that caramelize during roasting.  If you've ever tried to put freshly roasted coffee in a standard zip-lock bag, you know what we mean.  The pressure will build up enough to blow the seal, not only letting that evil oxygen attack your beautiful coffee, but spilling it all over the place in the process.
