Blown castor oils are manufactured by us with viscosity starting from about 900mPas at 25deg.C upto 100000mPas at 25deg.C depending on the end-use. Blown castor oils are used in applications like plasticizers, inks, coatings, sealants, caulks, putties. These products are non-volatile & have good compatiblity with various polymers.
It is somewhat difficult to imagine that, barely a few decades ago, castor oil was valued chiefly as a purgative. Who would have then anticipated the commercial respectability it would attain and the national and international demand it would come to enjoy? Jayant, through concerted efforts, has helped elevate castor oil from the humble status of a domestic medicinal oil to a versatile hi-tech oil with a string of sophisticated applications. Thus, castor oil today touches our lives in so many ways and represents a valuable input in some of the fastest growing industries. The chemical structure of castor oil is of great interest because of the wide range of reactions it affords to the oleochemical industry and the unique chemicals that can be derived from it. These derivatives are on par with petrochemical products for use in several industrial applications. In fact, they are considerably superior since they are from renewable sources, bio-degradable and eco-friendly.
