It was founded in the spring of 2002 as a non-profit company. The aim of the company, according to their statute, is the production of olive oil with the application of the Complete Environmental Management System in olive oil production. In the summer of 2003 Nileas was certified by the Greek Organization of Standardization (ELOT) with ISO 14001, for the Complete Environmental Management System that was implemented for the cultivation of olive trees. In the beginning of 2004, the members of Nileas, founded the name Rural Cooperative aiming at the Standardization and Promotion of olive oil for the team members. The system is currently applied using the varieties Koroneikis and Mavrolias olives in the cultivation of olive oil. Our direct objective is the extension of our system in horticultural and vineyards. Induction of new members occurs each February at which time their training begins ensuring they comply with the requirements of the system.
