Wrapping Films

Shin-Etsu Wrapping Film type PT has been developed by the technology based on the capacitor film production using selected raw materials. The type SD has improved on the strength characteristics still further. It has been developed as a new tape material to replace the hybrid or PET tape which had been well-known for its poor peel-off properties.

This tape must have an optimum fastening strength for the wrapping process, a thermal contraction force following the viscosity properties of the matrix (epoxy) resin in the carbon fiber prepreg in the curing process and a favorable mold release behavior after curing.

Molding carbon fiber prepreg into a cylindrical shape with superior strength and rigidity requires a special wrapping tape.

Good examples of the applications for this type of film are golf clubs and fishing rods.
