MQS has a complete range of welding procedures for pipework and have the capability to fabricate pipework in all grades of carbon steel, duplex, super duplex, stainless steel, copper/copper alloys and aluminium.

Pipework

Plate rolling facilities are available for plates up to 3 metres wide and 40 mm thick.

MQS has a CNC plate profile cutting machine capable of handling plates up to 3.5 metres wide, 16 metres long and 300 mm thick. We also own an air operated guillotine capable of cutting plates up to 6 metres long x 2.4 metres wide x 20 mm thick.

MQS has fabricated a wide range of structural components from pipe supports to complex structures in a variety of materials from local uncertified steel to high grade steels, stainless steel and aluminium. We have a comprehensive range of welding procedures covering all grades of steel.

Steelwork

The main fabrication shop has a new ventilation system and recent checks by the Baku Hygiene Inspection Centre (under the control on the Ministry of Health) have demonstrated that the system is effective in maintaining an acceptable working environment.

The exotic metal shop is totally covered and is approximately 900 metres? in area. This shop is equipped with timber clad work benches to prevent dissimilar metal cross contamination and has 2 x 6 tonne SWL fully certified overhead cranes.

The principle fabrication shop is totally covered and is approximately 13885 metres? in area. The shop contains a 3 story offices complex for fabrication, QA/QC and engineering personnel plus shower room, locker room and toilets. The first fabrication area is split into 2 bays, each bay equipped with 2 x 14 tonne SWL fully certified overhead cranes, the other fabrication area is split into 3 bays, each bay equiped with 2 x 14 tonne SWL fully certified overhead cranes.

MQS also operates an assessment programme for all personnel in order to establish the need for additional training.

The welding school is housed in a separate building and is equipped with 20 individual welding bays each with dedicated fume extraction facilities.

In order to carry out training MQS corporate offices houses not only NDT and heat treatment personnel but varied training facilities. The complex comprises 2 floors. The first floor contains 3 training rooms, medical centre, store rooms, machine shop, kitchens and restaurant for all employees and the second floor contains the corporate offices and a further 2 training rooms.

MQS closely monitors and pays great attention to the new technologies and materials. As a result of this, the company continually provides training courses conducted by experts in their field. This training allow continuous improvement of all its personnel.

MQS holds ABS accreditation for destructive testing, non-destructive testing and welder training.

This capability has been used extensively by many companies for weld procedure qualification testing and for establishing properties of steel, including tensile strength, where certification is either not available or insufficient.

In addition to non-destructive testing MQS also carries out destructive testing and owns and operates, tensile testing machines, bend machine, Charpy impact testing machines and hardness testers.

Estimated maximum throughput for this facility for a normal working week is 60 tonnes when using AIOC system A or E specifications.

This shop is equipped with 2 x 6 tonne SWL fully certified overhead cranes. Should it be necessary to handle fabrications outwith the capacity of the overhead cranes the facility has adequate headroom to accommodate mobile craneage. MQS regularly uses a 50 tonne mobile crane within this area.

The blast & paint facility is the largest in Baku , totally covered and is approximately 3400 metres? in area. The blast bay has been designed to accommodate the maximum sized fabrications transportable by road within Baku and is fully outfitted with blast pots, grit recovery system and adequate ventilation and lighting. Movement of materials into the blast shop and through into the paint shop is via a floor mounted 2 rail system with 4 wheel transport bogeys.

The paint area is fully equipped with air compressors, air distribution systems and adequate ventilation and lighting. The main paint and blast areas have new ventilation systems and recent checks by the Baku Hygiene Inspection Centre (under the control on the Ministry of Health) have demonstrated that the system is effective in maintaining an acceptable working environment.
