EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

The Union of Agricultural Associations of Sitia, founded in 1933, is a secondary corporative organization whose members are 42 primary agricultural associations including around 9.500 individuals. The Union is famous for the production of Protected Designation of Origin extra virgin olive oil and V.Q.P.R.D. wine.
 
More specifically:
 
-         The productive units of the Union (Winery, Olive Oil Bottling plant, Tsikoudias Distillery) function under the standards of the quality indemnity system ISO 9001:2000,  HACCP:1416 L and IFS.
-         During the last years, the olive oil SITIA has been awarded with (10) quality prizes worldwide, three of which have been awarded by the International Council of Olive oil.
-         The Union of Agricultural Associations of Sitia exports P.D.O. extra virgin olive oil, V.Q.P.R.D. wine and traditional Tsikoudia spirit in more than 30 countries.
-         The Union owns olive oil tanks with capacity of 5.000 tons of olive oil.
-         The olive oil bottling plant produces 10.000 Kg/day, in other words 1.500 bottles/hour.
-         The Union produces 15.000 tons/year extra virgin olive oil. 60% of the production has acidity up to 0.3%.
