It imprarts charateristic flowery top note to the perfumes and lends depth to blended material. It is necessarily a constituent of a high grade perfume, cosmetics and flavouring materials of tobacco. foods, softdrings and verages.

Uses:-

Depending upon the strain, geographical regoin of cultivation and management, practices, considerable vairation may occur in the composition of oil.

linallol (1.5-2.7%) Methyleugenol (2.0- 2.5%),eugenol (0.5%-1.0%) and ros oxide (1-1.3%) there are several minor constituents which are present in traces in the oil.

Major chemical constituenrs of ros oil are citronellol (22-32%),geraniol (12- 15%), nerol (8-12%)

True ros oil is a light yellow, occasionally slight greenish and semi solid at room temperature. The odour of the ros oil is pleasant, powerfull and charactueristic of fresh roses and the flovour is sweet and somewhat honey, like. The physical properties of the oil are:

PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:-

The unit consist of a kettle (still), acoluman,condenseor and reciver. The whol unit cane be of copper or stainless steel. The capacity of still may range form 100-250Kg flowers per batch. To increase the fule efficiecy in to generates sufficients steam, fume tubes are fitted in the bottom of the still. The outlet of the receiver is connected with the column to recycle the condensate in to the still, after the separetion of oil take splace in teh receiver. This processec is known as "Cohobation" which has been found to improve the recovery of oil. The plant simple in operation and can be operated by a semiskiiled woker. Direcy fired plant may cost Rs.2.5-3.0 lak. if made out of stainless still. The plant takes about 4-6 hrs per batch for completion of distillation
