Spearmint essential oil is a watery, clear oil with a slightly fruity, but characteristic minty, aroma.

Spearmint is a creeping-rooted, herbaceous plant. It grows erect, sparsely branching stems and become up to about one meter tall. Stems bear light-green, unequally serrated, lance-shaped leaves about five centimetres long in pairs on opposite sides of the stem. Spearmint flowers in many whorls of flowers on pointed spikes at the tip of stems. The colour of the flowers is initially whitish green and may become light purplish.
