TEA TREE OIL

There are over 180 different species of Tea Tree though only a few may be harvested for oil. Tea Trees are cut within two to three feet of the ground and within 12 to 18 months, thick heads of foliage ready to be harvested surmount the stumps. The oil is then extracted by stripping the leaves from the branches of the trees and steaming/distilling them until they yield a pale, yellow oil with a pleasant nutmeg odor.

Non-toxic and non-irritating to normal skin, Tea Tree Oil is powerfully concentrated with deep-penetrating ability and has gentle disinfecting properties. In most cases, it may be externally, topically applied at 100% strength. It is thought to penetrate under the top layers of the skin, thus carrying its antiseptic action much deeper than most creams.

Some of its many uses are in the treatment of acne, fungus, bruises, cleansing of cuts and abrasions, canker sores, as a gargle for sore throats, teething problems and for sore muscles where it may cause a warm sensation.

Tea Tree Oil is one of the most stable of oils and is a complex mixture of organic substances.
