It is produced by the Rose Damascene (Rosa Damascena Mill). The first plants of that kind were brought to Bulgaria from Damask (Syria) some 350 years ago. In these lands, between the Balkans and the Sredna Gora mountains (Rose Valley) the rose found the most favourable climate conditions to grow.
