German chamomile essential oil has a deep-blue colour that turns green with age. It has a pungent aroma with a faint suggestion
Mature flowers are harvested until late spring and then the leaves, stems and remaining flowers are harvested. The harvested material may be steam-distilled fresh, wilted, or dried.
German chamomile is an annual (winter) herb, which grows to about sixty centimetre tall, with a hairless, erect, branching stem. It has light-green, finely-divide, feathery leaves. It bears daisy-like flowers with white petals (florets) around a yellow central disk. Each flower grows on a single stem.
