Betel Vine Oil

Storage/ Shelf life :    The essential oil has shelf life of 1 year when kept in cool preferably at about 20-25'c dry place and protected from light in their original packaging. Keep containers tightly sealed. Each container that has been opened should be used rapidly or repacked in sterile packaging and conditions.

Caution for use:    This essential oil may cause skin irritation. This oil must be added at the end of cold preparations and at 35-40'c for emulsions while cooling. The activities of essential oil are best maintained when not heated.

Application :    This essential oil is added in skin care product for sensitive skin due to its antihistamine activity.

Uses :    About 4%

Stability :    Not stable to excess heat, acidic and basicpH. Reactive with reducing agents.

Solubility :    Soluble in 1.5 parts of 80% ethyl alcohol

Odour :    Green spicy-herb odour

Colour/ Appearance :    Yellow to yellow brown and clear liquid

Ingredient :    Eugenyl acetate, Iso eugenol, Caryophyllene

Production :    The natural essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the fresh leaves of Peper bitle Linn.

Ethnomedical Uses :    Local anesthetic, antihistamine,carminative, antiseptic, antifungal, anthelmentic

Origin/ Distribution : Betel piper is a perennial dioecious creeper probably native of Malaysia, also cultivated in India. Nowadays Betel piper is widely cultivated in tropical area especially in Thailand.
