EOD021 CONTRABAND/ DETECTOR

The Contraband/ Detector works by emitting a beam of energy into the area or object being inspected and then measuring the back scatter. A space filled with organic material reflects back more energy than an empty space. As the detector scans the barrier, the back scatter is indicated by the frequency of the audible signal and the LED visual indication of backscatter detected, This allows the used to visualise the search area and identify the location of any anomaly. In addition, the system now has an imaging capability. By positioning sensors near to the barrier and with the aid of a flip up screen which attaches to the cross bar of the searcher head, the system produces a grey scale image of the scanned area. This means that any anomalies can be identified visually before the need to proceed with potentially destructive investigation. This also means that search operations can be conducted quickly with limited disruption.
