Bellcheck System

The wet alarm valve testing procedure involves the opening of a 15 mm test valve to drop the pressure above the alarm valve clapper to the same or lower pressure below the clapper which causes the clapper to lift and activates the alarm.

When this test is carried out, sufficient water needs to be drawn of, which would simulate at least one sprinkler head in operation.

This simple and easy test is executed by turning the key on the Bellcheck Control Panel.

From figures available, we have calculated that approximately 1.3 billion litres of water per anum are discharged through using traditional methods. This figure is rising year on year at a rate of approximately 30% (Figures relate to UK mainland only installed sprinkler systems).

The testing is as stated above a mandatory requirement and involves the discharge of large quantities of water - approximately 630 Litres per valve set for each test carried out.

Having due regard for this fact, Projectfire Products developed Bellcheck to save this waste water. The only water used with the Bellcheck system is the operational discharge when the alarm gong activates and results in the usage of approximately 25 litres of water per valve set per test. This represents a saving of 31.460 Litres of water per valve set each year.

In order to comply with the requirements of the above code standards and the requirements of an insurers policy conditions, a routine weekly test on each automatic wet alarm valve set is a mandatory requirement for a sprinkler system.
