3.2 Inspection:
3.1.6 Other Locations Indicated or Specified
Continuously fill all voids located behind control or expansion joint in time-rated partitions, ceilings or floors with Firestopping material for the full length of the joints.
3.1.5 Control and Expansion Joints:
Electrical cables or conduit penetrating time-rated assemblies shall be firestopped as listed by testing authority. Firestopping at penetrations shall also comply with the requirements of NFPA 70.
3.1.4 Electrical Cables and Conduits:
Fire Dampers in ducts and penetrations F Time-Rated construction shall be furnished and installed in accordance with the requirement in sections: 15895-Air supply and distribution system, 15935 - Ventilation and exhaust systems and 15653-Air conditioning system (unitary type).
3.1.3 Fire Dampers:
3.1.3.1 Ductwork:
Ductwork penetrating 1 hour assemblies without a fire damper, insulated of non-insulated, shall have the voids between the ductwork or insulation and the prepared opening filled with Firestopping
material. The material shall be installed as recommended by the manufacturer.
Surface Preparation: Surfaces to be in contact with Firestopping material shall be free of dirt, grease or loose material or other substances that may affect proper fitting or the required fire
resistance. Firestopping material shall completely fill void spaces regardless of geometric configuration, subject to tolerances established by the manufacturer. Firestopping for filling voids in
floors in which the smallest dimension of the void is 4 inches or more, shall support the same load as the floor is designed to support or shall be protected by a permanent barrier to prevent
loading or traffic in the firestopped area.
3.1.2 Pipe or Ductwork:
3.1.1 Filling of voids:
Firestopping shall be installed at locations shown or specified in accordance with manufacturer's written instruction. Cutting and patching of construction and providing sleeves, where required, are shown in drawings or specified in another section. Firestopping shall be provided in the following locations:
PART 3 - EXECUTION

2.1.6 Approved Product: FLAME STOP V PUTTY/CAULK
Firestopping materials used to impede passage of smoke and gases through control and expansion joints shall be a type that will not interfere with the expansion/contraction movement requirement of the joints. When installed, Firestopping materials shall provide the same time-rated protection at the joints as the adjacent wall, ceiling or floor construction.
2.1.5 Control and expansion joints:
Material shall be non-combustible when tested in accordance with ASTM E-136.
2.1.4 Combustibility:
Firestopping materials shall be rated "F" and "T" in accordance with ASTM E814 or UL 1479 except that the "T" rating may be based on thermocouple placed one inch from a penetrating item in lieu of
direct attachment to penetrating items.
Rating periods shall conform to the following:
2.1.3 FIRE RESISTANCE AND HOSE STREAM TESTS:
Material shall be non-toxic to human beings at all stages of application and during fire conditions. Non-corrosive.
2.1.2 NONTOXICITY
Material shall have a Flame Spread of 25 or less, a Smoke Developed Rating of 50 or less when tested in accordance with ASTM E-84 or UL 723.
2.1.1 FIRE HAZARD CLASSIFICATION
Firestopping materials shall consist of commercial manufactured products complying with the following minimum requirements:
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 Firestopping Materials:
Materials shall be delivered in the original unopened packages pr containers showing name of the manufacturer and the brand name. Materials shall be stored off the ground and shall be protected from damage and exposure to elements. Damaged or deteriorated materials shall be removed from the site.
1.5 Storage and Delivery:
Firestopping shall consist of furnishing and installing a material or a combination of materials to form an effective barrier against the spread of flame, smoke and gases, and to maintain the integrity of the fire-rated construction.
1.4 General Requirements:
The following shall be submitted in accordance with section: 01300 Submittals:
SD-31 DETAIL DRAWINGS
Detail drawings shall be submitted and shall include manufacturer's descriptive data, typical details, installation instructions and the fire test data and/or report as appropriate for
the time rated construction and location. The fire test data will include a certification by a nationally recognized testing authority or by other supportive evidence satisfactory to the
contracting officer.
SD-76 CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE
Where materials or equipment are specified to comply wit the requirements or a particular agency, proof of such compliance shall be
submitted. The label or listing of the specified agency will be accepted evidence. In lieu of the label or listing, a written certificate may be submitted from an approved, nationally recognized
testing organization equipped to perform such services, stating that the items have been tested and conform to the requirements and testing methods of the specified agency.
