Carbon Dioxide has been used as an extinguishant in fixed installations since the beginning of the twentieth century. Carbon Dioxide is a colourless, odourless, dry, inert gas and is one of the
most wellknown of all fire extinguishants.
The standard size cylinders used for the system is 67.5 L steel cylinders filled with 45 Kg of Carbon Dioxide.
Cylinders can be delivered in accordance with the requirements of the various national authorities, including required stamping and certificates.
Applications :
Carbon Dioxide will extinguish fires in almost all combustibles except for a few active metals, metallic salts and substances containing oxygen, i.e. nitrates chlorates. Todays most common
applications for the use of Carbon Dioxide systems are listed below:
