APPLICATIONSGelman BioEssentials Class II Series are Laminar Flow Biological Safety Cabinets designed to provide a high degree of protection for personnel, products or experiments and the environment from risks associated with hazardous microbiological agents that require Biosafety Level 1, 2 or 3 containment.The BioEssentials Class II Series cabinet meets the requirements of Class II Type A2 and maintains a minimum average inflow velocity of 100 fpm through the work access opening. It discharges all exhaust air to the laboratory or outside atmosphere after HEPA filtration.OPERATIONSterile and particle free air is recirculated in the work zone in a vertical laminar flow manner providing product protection. An air barrier is created between the operator and the work zone by an in-flow of room air through a purpose-designed grille which spans the full width of the access opening thus providing operator and environment protection. Induced Air Leakage barrier located on the leading side walls of the work area along the work access opening prevents re-entrainment of unfiltered air into the work zone and ensures that no gases, vapours or particulates migrate up behind the viewing window and escaping into the environment. Exhaust air from the cabinet is HEPA filtered before being returned to the laboratory.Gelman Zero Leak system ensures that all positive pressure zones are surrounded by negative pressure zones, so as to contain potentially-hazardous aerosols.Ergonomically designed with 10
