Our medium-fast taper rods (this and the Rogue in 7 6 length, see below) are based off classic tapers by Eustus Edwards, a master bamboo rod builder of the early 20th century.

Fly anglers who prefer a faster-action bamboo rod will be thrilled with the Breitenbush. This powerful, medium-fast rod is delightful to cast. Built for smaller streams and spring creeks, this rod is ideal for close-in action yet has excellent reach and achieves pinpoint accuracy.

The smooth progression allows for more feel when fighting even the smallest fish. This light and delicate rod is maneuverable for presentations to 40 feet. The Grande Ronde fishes well with action inherent in fine classic bamboo rods.

As a medium action rod, the Grande Ronde is exceptional for working in small, brushy streams. Without the luxury of a backcast, this rod is ideal for making large rollcast loops.

To complete the rod, you will need to finish the blank (tung oil, varnish, epoxy, impregnation, etc.) and purchase the epoxy, ferrule cement (if applicable), wrapping thread, and finishes.

In addition to blanks, we also offer kits for the do-it-yourselfer to complete a bamboo rod. Our new kits make it easy for you to accumulate the necessary parts to complete your bamboo fly rod.
