The Addict features a Naked External Tubeset (NET), carbon dropouts (w/ replaceable hanger), carbon cable stops, and a carbon front derailleur mount to further reduce weight.
The new Scott Addict is the lightest, hottest road bike built to date. It was developed over last three years by an experienced team of Scott technicians in conjunction with a pro tour team. The pro riders brought a level of sophistication to the Scott Addict by sharing their understanding of bikes, and the intensity of training and level of riding that it takes to be at the top.
The magic of a Scott Addict starts with the thought and detail put into its geometry. The Scott Addict has a short head tube, long top tube, and slack seat tube. The reason this is important is because riders want to be stretched out and as low as possible to get into that aerodynamic position on long downhill descents with tight hairpin turns. The geometry of the frame positions riders low down against the wind.
The Scott Addict was created from the CR1. When the CR1 came out in 2003 it was the lightest bike in the world, weighing only 880g. The Scott Addict is down to an amazing 790g. How? It starts with a process known as IMP or Internal Molding Process- a top secret approach that allows Scott to make the top tube, head tube, and down tube very stiff and very strong, yet extremely lightweight.
Scott also implemented a naked external tube set. Most bikes have a weave or cosmetic pattern, but to make the Addict the ultimate lightweight bike, Scott has reduced the exterior layer of carbon to cut down its weight by 35-40g. All of the details of the Scott Addict are made of carbon... from the cable stops to the front derailleur brackets to the rear dropouts, making it the ultimate lightweight bike. It has an integrated seat post to save a few extra grams and customize the bike at precisely the right height for each individual rider. The seat is cut and custom fit to your body and leg length. The bottom line is that the Scott Addict is the toughest, lightest bike there is. It's light, it's fast... it's Scott.
