Pinblock

...excellent tuning stability...

Over several decades of use a piano must be tuned many times. Only quality material will stand up to this test. Inferior material will certainly fail.

Many makers may be tempted to use a less costly material.

This vital part will often be hidden from view at the time of a customer purchase.

The pinblock must hold the tuning pin in place but be loose enough for the tuner to adjust each pin during the piano tuning.

Two hundred twenty three strings require an equal number of tuning pins.

Each ply must be turned so that the maximum amount of end grain grips the tuning pin.

Material for the plies will be cut from quarter-sawn Canadian Rocky Mountain maple.

Rawlins & Co. pianos utilize a pinblock of nineteen plies.

(also called a wrest plank)

Every piano must have a pinblock
