Hickory International is a family owned and operated dealership.  The company was started in 1979 by Al Thackston, who had 22 years of experience with international Harvester when he purchased this company owned store. At that time, International Harvester at this store sold International Trucks, Farm Equipment, Industrial Equipment as well as Lawn & Garden all under the International Harvester umbrella. As times changed, International Harvester sold off the farm equipment division to Case, the industrial equipment to Dresser and the lawn & garden to Cub Cadet. 
 
Hickory International, Inc. still sells Cub Cadet Lawn Tractors today. Kubota Tractors were added to the business in 1992, which was followed by the expansion to Kubota Excavators in 2006. Hickory International also services the Commercial Mowing Market with Exmark, Scag, Ferris as well as Kubota Zero Turns. Not only do we sell turf equipment, we can service them as well. 
 
Our Bel Air location has an 8 bay service center staffed with factory trained technicians for any of your lawn and garden equipment needs.  In 1999, Hickory International opened a second store in Towson to better serve the commercial
mowing market, this store is located off of Joppa  Road and operates under the
name of Baltimore Turf Equipment. 
 
The Towson location is open for parts and sells commercial mowing equipment.
All service work is performed at the Hickory International location in Bel Air. Al Thackston is still active in the business but turned the daily operation over to his
son, Brent Thackston in 1995. Hickory International, Inc. is now in its second generation of operation and has been serving Harford, Cecil and Baltimore Counties
for nearly three decades.
