Traditional threshing methods followed by farmers involved trampling of crop under feet, beating of shelves of rice or wheat crop on hard slant surface, beating crop with a flail, treading a layer of 15 to 20 cm thick harvested crop by a team of animals. These traditional methods are not only time consuming and involves drudgery  but they have poor efficiency and have very low output.
