Wireless ISPs deploying wireless networks
will use two common mistakes which will
create performance and security problems
when network grows.
Controlling bandwidth at the
gateway level: Bandwidth control at
gateway level in a single broadcast domain
has its own disadvantage of using valuable
back-haul bandwidth. When user request to
access network, packets comes all the way
up to gateway level with full link capacity up
to bandwidth manager (installed at gateway
level). At gateway level bandwidth is
controlled by throttling based on either IP
address or MAC address of the user pc.
A single broadcast domain lacks
performance and security
problems: A single broadcasting domain,
pass broadcast traffic including windows
browsing messages, which enable users to
see each others pcs, some of the ISPs are
using packet filtering techniques by
introducing switches in the network but than
it lacks security. If other users IP address is
known, his/her pc can be accessed using IP
address. Built-in firewall helps eliminate the
propagation of worms and viruses within the
intranet.
Most of the wireless installation, user-access
is deployed using bridged receivers without
firewall or routing capabilities, which
introduces variability and broadcasting
problems in the network.
Wireless Intelligence at
the EDGE Wi-Fi Receivers

portal capabilities.
Jasmine Wi-Fi Receivers with routing
capability overcome problem of broadcasting
but at the same time introduce challenging
problem of authentication through routing
network, as PPPoE server requires link-layer
connectivity (single broadcast domain) in
order to authenticate based on IP address /
User Name / Password attributes.
If Jasmine Wi-Fi Receiver running captive
portal to control bandwidth, MB transferred
and time of connection with the help of Wi-
Fi authentication server and authenticate
and control user-access actually at the
EDGE, than problems regarding
broadcasting, authentication through routing
network can be solved.

Bandwidth control at the EDGE:
Innovative way of controlling bandwidth to
avoid unnecessary use of network backbone
and bottle neck at the gateway.
HotSpot: It actually works as HotSpot
receiver when used with Jasmine iM2Mesh
Node and Jasmine iM2Mesh Authentication
server; even users are connected to it with
Ethernet. Common HotSpot features
includes, login page, redirection to specific
web site, https based authentication, walled
garden support.
Reliability: When Jasmine Wi-Fi Receiver
used with Jasmine iM2Mesh Node, it can
connect to best signal strength node
automatically. When connected node is not
available, it will automatically search for
another node and saves users from
connectivity interruption.

Jasmine Wi-Fi Receivers can be deployed in
large scale city-wide, zone wide Wi-Fi

When you want to connect extend your
Ethernet network wirelessly, you can use
Jasmine Wi-Fi Receiver in bridge mode.
Outdoor Jasmine Wi-Fi Receiver: In city
wide deployment or zone wide deployment,
you can use Jasmine Wi-Fi Receiver to
connect to Jasmine iM2Mesh Node. Jasmine
Wi-Fi Receiver comes with outdoor
enclosure so you can have extended
wireless coverage. It can support single or
multiple users with different user profiles
such as bandwidth / time / data
