In MODCOM-4, some of the linear modulation techniques currentlyused in modern analog and digital communications systems are studied.An analog or digital information signal is conveyed on to acarrier signal whose instantaneous amplitude varies according to the variation of the original information signal.Specifically, Double-Sideband modulation (DSB), conventional Amplitude Modulation (AM), Single-Sideband Modulation (SSB) and Quadrature Amplitude modulation (QAM) will be studied.Modulated speech and data signals are measured in both time and frequency domains using the PU-410 interface to the personal computer.The PU-400 supplies the necessary signal sources and other measuring circuits.
