Power Save
Power Save can be used to conserve battery power when the radio is in a standby condition. The radio will enter into a low power sleep condition if it does not transmit or receive for a period
of time, waking up periodically to check for a received signal, and then revert to the sleep condition. This cycle of sleeping and waking will continue until the PTT button is pressed or a
signal is received.
VOX
With the VOX (Voice Operated Transmitter) feature enabled a radio can transmit automatically whenever voice audio is present at the microphone. The voice audio level required to key the
transmitter can be programmed to a set level, or the radio can determine the necessary level automatically based on the ambient noise.
DTMF ANI
A DTMF ANI string can be sent on the leading or trailing edge of every transmission to identify the radio. The DTMF ANI string can be up to 7-characters long, and can consist of any combination
of the numeric characters 0-9, alpha characters A-E, or the # character. DTMF ANI programming is applied to all channels, but the radio can be programmed with a unique code on a
channel-by-channel basis using the Selcall feature.
Busy Channel Lockout
Busy Channel Lockout prevents transmitter operation on a channel when there is a received signal present. The radio can be programmed to prevent transmit any time a received signal is present,
prevent transmit unless the received signal carries the correct subtone, or prevent transmitting only when the received signal carries the correct subtone. The Busy Channel Lockout setting will
apply to all channels programmed into the radio.
Priority Scan
A priority channel can be assigned on any radio that has been programmed for Scan operation. With Priority Scan enabled the designated priority channel will be checked more frequently for
signal, and will also be checked while the radio is receiving on another channel. This assures the radio user that calls on the primary operating channel will not be missed when scanning a
large number of channels or when scanning busy channels.
* Home channel is the channel the radio was operating on when the Scan hotkey was pressed.
Scan
The radio can scan all channels in the radio that have been marked for scan. Press the Scan hotkey to begin scanning. When the radio detects a signal on one of the scanned channels it will
stop, remain on the channel as long as a signal is present, then waits briefly after the signal is gone before it resumes scanning. Pressing the PTT button will cause the radio to leave scan
operation and transmit on the home channel*. Optionally, the radio can be set to transmit on the last channel on which a signal was received when the PTT button is pressed during scan. Any time
the PTT button is pressed the radio leaves scan operation and the Scan hotkey must be pressed to resume scanning. With Voting Scan enabled the radio will only stop on channels where the
received signal exceeds the programmed Voting Level. With Best Voting Scan enabled the radio will scan all marked channels, determine the channel with the best signal and receive on that
channel.
Status Call
Status Call creates fixed messages that can be selected from the Status List for transmission, or can be sent automatically. For example, if a user will be unavailable for a period of time they
can select a USY? status from the Status List. If incoming calls are not answered the radio will automatically transmit the USY?status message to let the caller know the user is unavailable. A
USY?status message is programmed in every radio by default.
Priority Channel
A priority channel can be assigned on any radio that has been programmed for Scan operation. With Priority Scan enabled the designated priority channel will be checked more frequently for
signal, and will also be checked while the radio is receiving on another channel. This assures the radio user that calls on the primary operating channel will not be missed when scanning a
large number of channels or when scanning busy channels.
Hotkeys
Every key on the radio except the PTT button can be programmed to any one of the following functions. Menu, Up and Down buttons should remain as assigned in all but the most basic radio
configuration to effectively utilize the many features.
Selcall Capability
Selcall (selective calling) is a type of squelch protocol used in radio communications systems in which transmissions include a brief burst of sequential audio tones. Receivers that are set to
respond to the transmitted tone sequence will open their squelch, while others will remain muted. This feature is used in the Wireless PA application above as well as other features. In a
typical Selcall application the radio will be programmed with a unique ID code that identifies that specific radio. When the radio is called the ID code is decoded and the Alias for that code
is displayed. A second ID code could be used when operating the radio in another Selcall system. Decoder codes can also be entered for advanced features such as RX reset, incoming emergency,
acknowledge, or 2-tone.
Here are some of the more notable features this radio has:
This radio can only be programmed from an optional PC software and cable. The software saves programming files as Radio Definition Files (.rdf) to your computer hard drive and these files can be read to review programming of radios currently in service or for programming other radios to the same set-up. We can also do the programming and complete system setup for you, but there will be a programming charge that varies based on the amount of programming required.
