Potatoes

Potatoes came to Egypt in 1800s but from the beginning it didnt get big popularization because of inexperience of peasants with handling this plant. Everything was changed completely in 1961 when begun mass application of irrigated fields for potatoes production. Concentration of the plantation in the delta of river Nile in the North step by step became to be bugger by 5% in the year. Between 1990 and 2006 annual producing increased from 1,6 millions tons to 2,5 millions tons. Thats why Egypt is the first potatoes producer in Africa.
