The FJ40 Land Cruiser was a complete surprise to hobbyists when it was revealed at the 2008 Nuremberg Toy Fair, and the place it reserve in RC history was interesting, to say the least. Built on a
completely new CR-01 chassis, it was Tamiya's first "rock crawling" rig, a late entry into a market that had been dramatically growing in popularity for several years. The body made from
lightweight polycarbonate mounted on an all-new CR-01 chassis and is literally ready to rock.
CR-01 dedicated crawler chassis features heavy-duty ladder frame with strong yet lightweight pressed aluminum channels and resin cross members. The space saved by mounting a compact planetary gearbox enables the battery to be located lower on the chassis for optimum center of gravity.
