In the early 1950's the USAF replaced their aging AT-6 fleet with the piston-powered T-28 Trojan. Its supreme flying characteristics led to subsequent contracts with the US Navy and Marines. Though retired from service in the early 1970's, the T-28 is perhaps the most commonly found warbird at full-scale air shows today. The T-28s impressive engine enables speeds exceeding 280 mph.
