Perhaps least obvious but most important for the passagemaker, the Cherubini hull form (narrow, slack bilges, long keel) means a more comfortable boat at sea. Carl Adler's computes that the Cherubini 44 has a "Motion Comfort" index of 42. A well known contemporary boat of similar size has an index of 27. These numbers mean that the Cherubini 44 has slower rolling and pitching motions; the hull slices the water instead of pounding it. Moreover, the cabin sole is well under the water line and bunks are near the water line, where boat motion is the least. Sailors who have ventured to sea in a modern, wide, shallow hulled boat will sense the difference immediately. Voyagers on the Cherubini 44 will arrive at their destination not only quickly but comfortably.

Her hull form has several other distinctive advantages. She has a shallow, long Scheel keel (developed and patented by the distinguished naval architect Henry Scheel), which enables good windward performance while keeping the ability to cruise in shallow areas such as Chesapeake Bay and the Bahamas. This keel shape is also excellent for heaving to. The flared clipper bow keeps the deck dry.

When the wind pipes up on a reach, she keeps going faster, well beyond hull speed. She can sustain speeds over 12 knots, almost 50 percent above theoretical hull speed! How? Her hull is so narrow and her bow so sharp that she creates a very small bow wave and is able to pierce through that wave and reach and sustain speeds well above expected hull speed (as high-speed catamarans do).
