2010 Apex MTX Snowmobile

Performance

* Genesis 150FI 4-stroke engine
  The Genesis 150FI engine has been a leader in the top performance category, powering happy Apex owners across frozen lakes, up dizzying slopes, and down sanctioned drag race strips. The super-smooth 4-cylinder design produces ultra-reliable 150 horsepower-class performance and fuel economy. The advanced fuel injection system means hassle-free starts and easy throttle pulls.
* Advanced fuel injection system
  The high tech, low-pressure fuel injection system uses an injector and butterfly valve throttle body on each cylinder to aid in delivering outrageously crisp throttle response, 150 horsepower production and excellent fuel economy.
* Lightweight rear-exiting titanium exhaust
  The exhaust pipes coming out of the Genesis 150FI engine are configured in a 4-2-1-2 design. The exhaust, featuring titanium head pipes, adds to the engines higher output and also reduces weight. The patented rear exit design serves many performance-enhancing functions. First, it cools the pipe by running it down the tunnel, where it can be snow-cooled. Second, it reduces the amount of under-hood heat produced. Third, the rear-exiting design distributes weight to contribute to the excellent balance of the sled.
* Lightweight forged crankshaft
  The forged crankshaft in the Genesis 150FI is 2.2 pounds lighter than the original in the Genesis Extreme. This is a large contributing factor in the Apex MTXs razor-sharp throttle response.
* Lightweight hydraulic brake system
  The lightweight 4-piston brake system delivers solid stopping power without fading, even in high-use applications. It also incorporates a lightweight, double-finned, self-cooling brake disc.
* 16x162x2.25-inch Camoplast Maverick track/extrovert drive sprockets
  Yamaha and Camoplast collaborated in the design of the Maverick track. The 16x162x2.25-inch track features a 3-inch pitch to allow more snow to pack in between the lugs for a firmer grip on the snow. Also, the lugs are extremely varied in design and profile for even more traction in multiple snow conditions. Churning the track is a pair of factory-engineered extrovert drive sprockets. The engineering team purpose-built these sprockets to work with the Maverick track and reduce vibration.

 Handling

* Deltabox II with comfortable rider-forward position
  The primary design objective of the Deltabox II chassis was to create a comfortable rider-forward posture. The ergonomic treatment is achieved by locating the handlebars and seated position high and forward on the chassis. With this positioning, the rider can go from sitting to standing and back again easily and comfortably. It also centralizes the combined mass of sled and driver, for razor-sharp handling.
* Tapered mountain tunnel
  To accommodate the 16-inch wide track, the Apex MTX has a mountain-specific tunnel that is lighter than previous mountain tunnels. It features a straight angle for simplicity and rapid snow evacuation. In addition, the runningboards are wide with aggressive star-punched traction along their length.
* Narrow stance second generation front geometry
  The second generation geometry on the front end of the Apex MTX uses a narrower stance than the trail Apex machines. In addition, the configuration maintains spindle castor at 23 degrees throughout the travel stroke. This gives the sled consistent and predictable steering regardless of the suspensions activity.
* Tall, wide, hooked mountain handlebars
  To match the tall and forward position, a single-piece, dual-hooked handlebar is standard fare on the Apex MTX. The hooks have the same grip material as the main bar section, for consistent control, regardless of hand position on the grip. Mountain riders will appreciate the center grab strap when its time for sidehilling.
* Integrated airbox/small hood
  The design on the Apex MTX is very efficient, often integrating many functions into one component. One such example is the use of the airbox as a part of the hood design. The upper element, closest to the headlight, is comprised of the silencer cover for the airbox. This design feature allows for a very small hood piece, which keeps weight low.
* Magnesium chaincase
  The Apex MTX features a lightweight magnesium chaincase. The exotic material is a pound lighter than the previously used aluminum chaincase on other models.

 Comfort

* ProMountain 162 rear suspension
  The lightweight ProMountain rear suspension is a conventional torsion spring design. It was engineered to help the sled get up on plane in the fresh snow. The dual-angle rails also give the Apex MTX excellent trail manners, while maintaining its deep snow flotation. The ProMountain 162 delivers 14 inches of vertical travel. The rear idler wheel is elevated 25mm, thanks to the dual-angle rail design.
* Aluminum HPG shocks
  The ProMountain 162 rear suspension is outfitted with a pair of aluminum-body HPG shocks. The shock package is calibrated to deliver a very comfortable ride with great anti-bottoming performance over the rough trails mountain riders use to get up to the deep powder at elevation.
* Mountain-style rear rack
  The Apex MTX uses a, lightweight rear rack design. Mountain riders will be able to cinch down their extra gear, using the aluminum anchor points on the tunnel. The design eliminates the weight of the former composite rack while affording owners the opportunity to pack their things on the sled.
* Wide runningboards with star-punched traction
  The Apex MTXs wide runningboards feature star-punched traction throughout their entire length. The boards also have an outer traction roll for additional sure footing. As an added benefit, the traction holes help evacuate snow and slush from the runningboard.
* Wheels with removable bearings
  The newly designed wheels make the ride smooth and make maintenance easy. Now when the bearings need to be replaced you dont have to purchase a whole new wheel, just remove the old bearings and insert the new ones. The wheels also include a new spoke design and a rubber rim that make for a comfortable riding experience. This new design will be implemented on the rear large wheels as well as the internal smaller wheels.
* New grip warmers
  The Apex MTX receives new, redesigned grip warmers for 2010. These new grip warmers deliver a more concentrated heat source rather than spreading the warmth out. The result is a much warmer grip for your hands most comfortable riding position. In addition, an insulator has been inserted between the heating element and handlebar to retain heat longer and more efficiently.
* Digital gauge with extensive data features
  The Apex MTX features a digital gauge array that displays a wide variety of data. Readouts include barometric measurements, dual trip meters and a clock. In addition to the functions, the gauge has been styled to match the aggressive lines of the body work and console area.
* Standard electric start and reverse
  Yamahas electric starter system allows consumers to fire up their Apex MTX with the turn of a key. There is no pulling on a nylon cord to get this high-tech engine growling! Electric start is a standard feature on all of Yamahas 4-stroke machines. The Apex MTX comes standard with reverse to help consumers get their sled off the trailer.
* New graphics package
  The Apex MTX comes in one new graphics package; white/blue. This awesome design produces one of the best looking sleds on the snow.
