Underground articulated dump trucks

For the past several decades, articulated dump trucks (ADTs) have been used to profitably carry heavy loads fast over rough terrain in underground mining environments. It is a known fact that poor driver skills and habits can have a significant impact on safety and productivity in ADT operations.

The CYBERMINE range of articulated dump truck simulators are designed to provide an excellent training and refresher system for ADT drivers in below ground mining operations without removing productive vehicles from the operations cycle. Without doubt, skilled ADT operators increase productivity, lower operating costs and reduce safety violations.

The CYBERMINE ADT operator is immersed in a highly realistic, 3D operating mine world, projected on the three wide screen displays located about the operators cab. The entire ADT cab is replicated to provide all instruments and controls correctly located about the operator.

The simulated mine world comes complete with tunnels, loading points, chutes and dumping areas. Artificially intelligent loaders, other ADTs, miners and other such entities exist in the world in support of the ADT training and evaluation process.

All simulated equipment behaviour dynamics are based on detailed mathematical models that use equipment manufacturer specifications to provide accurate behavioural realism. As a result, full loading, hauling, reversing and dumping capability is included with the each ADT simulation.

The operators performance is continually monitored and recorded, in terms of cycle times, processed tonnage, adherence to safety procedures, correct equipment handling techniques and response to emergency situations and failures. These performance reports together with the instructors after-action review capability provide a complete training and evaluation system.

Highly efficient and effective training is therefore realised with no loss of production and no danger of accidents, even in the most complex of emergency situations to which the operator might be expected to respond.
