SELLmatix communicates between the Point of Sale Terminals and the controller using standard TCP/IP networking. In the back office or head office, SELLmatix Control can control multiple Point of Sale nodes or downstream controllers, and in turn update the accounting system being used. Where a greater degree of control is required, custom applications can directly control the POS terminals via TCP/IP socket communications.

SELLmatix is designed to operate as a front end to other back office accounting systems. SELLmatix can import and export product and customer data from packages from accounting systems such as Quickbooks, MYOB and other systems, or even normal Excel spreadsheets. Instead of needing to manipulate the data to suit SELLmatix, it uses translation tables which you can modify or create so that SELLmatix can read and write the data in the formats required by the other software.

Almost any type of hardware device can be integrated with SELLmatix simply by editing the device configuration files. This includes anything using a serial, parallel or USB interface. For really advanced device configuration, custom DLLs can be written and SELLmatix configured to call entry points in these DLLs as required.

For example, the display used can be a normal computer display, a Touch Screen display, or even a simple LCD display which simply shows amounts like an old fashioned cash register... (if you really wanted to). Even though Touch Screens are perhaps the most efficient interface, replacing a keyboard in most cases, many other Touch Screen POS systems have a fixed or limited number of touch buttons on the display. With SELLmatix, you can configure as many buttons as you want on the touch display, and arrange the touch buttons in any manner you want. You can have as many screen overlays as you need, enabling you to "drill down" into great detail from broader categories.  For bar and restaurant applications hand help terminals can be used so that orders are taken and sent via a WIFI link to the bar and/or kitchen instantaneously.

SELLmatix is probably the most adaptable and flexible Point of Sale system available. It can work with any combination of devices such as Touch screens, keyboards, scanners magnetic stripe readers, printers and other equipment.

Even where POS equipment completely dies, if the server is online at the time the problem occurs, transactions will not normally be lost, and a replacement machine can usually be swapped in and completely configured by the server within minutes from backup configurations which are stored on the server.

SELLmatix does not use any third party software components such as databases or code libraries. All of SELLmatix has been written in house and the internal components have been tested, used and proven for more than 20 years in more than 17 countries. We don't recommend doing this, but if you pull out the power cable while SELLmatix is in operation, chances are that that only the details of an incomplete current sale would be lost. When power is restored, operations can continue normally in over 99% of cases, with no maintenance required. Compare this to other "fatware" systems using databases which are notoriously easy to corrupt and can take hours to recover.

The design of SELLmatix Point of Sale extremely robust and it is designed to operate in hostile environments. Many POS systems depend on a server being operational to process sales, and operation stops if there is a problem with the server or a network cable is disconnected. SELLmatix POS is fully redundant. The entire database is replicated on each POS machine, and if a server goes down, sales operation can continue indefinitely. When the server operation is restored, or network cabling repaired, transactions are updated to the server seamlessly without intervention at the Point of Sale.

SELLmatix POS works with almost any peripheral device such as printers, barcode scanners, keyboards, touch screens and the open architecture means that new devices can be integrated with SELLmatix without the need for changes to the SELLmatix software in most cases.

SELLmatix POS uses standard low cost components and equipment. It even runs on equipment as low cost as a Pentium II processor running at 300Mhz using Windows 2000 or later. This type of hardware provides the biggest "bang" for your "buck" possible. Replacement parts are readily available and low in cost, normally do not need to be specially ordered and do not require a specially trained technician to service the "strange" equipment.
