P1550 Quick Reference Guide
Technical Overview
Be sure to follow the instructions given below to ensure the safe use
of Radiant P1550 Point-of-Sale.
To avoid a possibility of electrical shock, be sure to connect the power cord to the Radiant
P1550 before connecting it to the main power supply.
A fire or electrical shock may result if the voltages used with the Radiant P1550 are beyond
the specified range. Be sure to only use the specified voltage.
To avoid fires or electrical hazards, do not modify the product in any way.
Before either plugging in or unplugging a board or interface connector, be sure to
turn the Radiant P1550s power OFF and disconnect form the power source.
To prevent a possible explosion, do not install the Radiant P1550 in areas which contain
flammable gases.

The 15 Radiant P1550 Point-of-Sale (POS) is the high performance member in the Radiant
Systems family of open retail platforms. The terminal utilizes Intels Mobile Technology which
combines a Pentium M or Celeron M processor and the 855 chipset. The highly efficient Mobile
processor equates to greater performance than a comparable Pentium 4 design, but with lower
power consumption for a more reliable design. In addition, the terminal is based on Intels
EmbeddedATX standard motherboard form factor for open platforms.

Suggestions
Check to make sure the power cord is firmly plugged in to both the
terminal and power outlet.
Press the power button to turn the terminal on. The power button is
located on the left side of the I/O panel (See the Graphical Overview -
Power Button and I/O Panel Access)
Check to see if the Radiant logo is illuminated below the screen.
If the Radiant logo is illuminated, the screensaver turned off the
backlight. Touch the screen to wake it up.
If the Radiant logo is not illuminated, the terminal is turned off or
not receiving power. See The unit will not power up
troubleshooting section.
Resistive Touch Screen (Mylar plastic touch surface)
Note: Do not use any sharp objects, pens, pencils, or any material
except a finger to contact touch screen sense it could damage the
touch sensing layer.
Go to Start > Run and type tcalib, select OK. Follow the
directions on the screen.
Capacitive Touch Screen (Clear glass touch surface)
Go to Start > Programs > MT 7 Software > Calibration Tool.
Or, go to Start > Run and type
C:\Program Files\MicroTouch\MT7\TWCALIB.EXE.
The 3M Touchware driver may not be installed. Look in
C:\Drivers\3MTouch and read the README.TXT file for installation
instructions.
Check to see if the network cable is firmly plugged in to both the
terminal and network outlet.
Check for network link on the network port. The green LED is
illuminated when the link is active.
Check the network settings to make sure they are configured correctly.
Configure the TCP/IP settings for static or dynamic IP.
Go to Start > Control Panel > P15xx Hardware Settings. Select
the OPOS tab.
Cash Drawer Select OPOS RSDirect.CDx or RSSerial.COMx
Line Display Select OPOS RSLD.COMx
MSR Select OPOS RSMsr
Note: The MSR Keyboard Wedge Service status needs to be
Stopped in order for the MSR OPOS test to work properly.
