Vytex Natural Rubber Latex (NRL) is a patented product that reduces the antigenic protein levels in raw natural rubber latex to below detectable levels. In addition to greatly reducing the proteins, Vytex NRL also retains and, in most cases, improves upon the chemical and physical properties of NRL, whose properties are already superior to synthetic products. Vytex NRL is competitive with, and often less expensive than, most natural latex-free or petroleum-based synthetic alternative materials. Further, Vytex NRL is naturally green, and is a renewable resource with no known human carcinogens in its natural state. It has been speculated by manufacturers currently trialing Vytex NRL that they feel its use can reduce their costs for producing items containing NRL by alleviating some of the steps in protein reduction techniques.  As a side benefit Vytex NRL also removes the odor that is common in Hevea NRL in both dipped and foam products.
