The radiation in the atmosphere includes ultraviolet, visible light and infrared light, especially ultraviolet damages the plastic the most. Although ultraviolet has only take part in 5% of the sun light, but most polymer and additives absorb it and become worse. In the range of the ultraviolet spectrum, the most damage wavelength is between 280~400nm. After the polymer absorbs the ultraviolet, it becomes more active and stays in the exciting situation. The surplus power would break the weakest chemical bond on the main chain, cause polymers to wear out.
