Woven labels are all threads woven together on a loom. Embroidered patches are threads embroidered onto a substrate, most typically cotton canvas with an embroidery machine. Embroidery doesn allow for the same amount of detail as woven labels do, since the thread is much thicker and it's embroidered onto a stiff substrate.
