Airless See-Through Auto Tyres

A third concept designed for electric and fuel-cell cars, this active wheel also delivers an integrated suspension system. By eliminating the need for a gearbox, clutch, shock absorbers and transmission shaft, the Active Wheel gives automakers more flexibility in designing the vehicles of the future.

Developed at Michelin's Paris, France, research center, the Tweel has been built for all luxury vehicles. The Tweel can withstand not only potholes but even land-mine blasts and keep moving.

It is another puncture-proof concept, the Tweel (Tyre+Wheel), combines the tyre and wheel in a single module that resists shocks far better than today's separate tyres and wheels.

As its name suggests, the partly see-through Airless does not rely on air pressure for smooth riding, thus eliminating the risk of under-inflated or flat tyres. Instead, the rubber tread is supported by a circular row of ultra-strong translucent rings that absorb the impact from the road. It has an average of three-year guarantee and is easy to install.
