Toys must go! My wife and I are having our first child so we are reluctantly selling our hotrod pickup. I bought this from the original owner a farmer back in 1999. The engine was in decent shape due to the low hrs he used on the farm, however, the body was as you can imagine beat up. My father, who restores hotrods and is the top 5% in the West for Chrysler/Jeep Technician, helped me restore this beautiful pickup. After a year of sanding, fabricating, and building just to get the body straight was a relief. It seems as though the body parts were very hard to find due to the model/year. You might recall the J200 (earlier model), J300 or J3000 (both larger long box models) which are more common and easer to find parts but the 69 Gladiator (J2000) was a ? ton short box with a 350 V8 Buick engine is a little more rare. After the first year we tackled the engine, we installed power breaks and power steering so you can steer and stop it without difficulty. We then installed a 4 barrel manifold with a Holly carburetor, which boosted the horse power immensely. Next we had the leaf springs re-arced and added a few to give it the face lift it needed. Installed skyjack springs. Along with all new electrical, hoses, and of course some nice elbow grease it started to shape up. With the paint and dual exhaust next we decided to go with the newer color patriot blue pearl with up to three coats of clear on it. This is always the first thing people comment on. Then we went with flow master mufflers and dual exhaust going out the back; which the tone of the muffler, my dad decided to go with, sounds amazing. We topped it off with a nice blaupunkt sound system and wheels and tires. The only thing not finished is the tailgate. With the previous owner being a farmer you can imagine what it looked like. I was going to have new one fabricated and put a mural on it just never got around to it. Anyway, with it mostly finished I took it to the Lewiston, Id Hot August Nights car show and received 1st place for the 4x4 pickup division in 2003. Along with some smaller local car shows and receiving awards at each one after 2003 I went to College and for the next 6 years it sat parked in my garage sadly to say due to no time. I got it up and running this year planning to enter it in some car shows but with a baby on the way money needs to go elsewhere.
