The Passat Variant is one of the most spacious cars you will ever see on the road. And if you've ever seen one, you'll know what we mean when we say that it is a car
with a remarkable presence. The reaction is always the same - heads turn when the Passat Variant passes by.
And faces light up when they get a closer look at all the features and aspects of the Passat Variant that make it an ideal car for the modern executive with an active
lifestyle.
With the rear seat upright, the luggage compartment can take a load of up to 495 litres. By folding down the rear seat and backrest, the load space can be increased to
1600 litres.
But don't stop there. If you're loading long and narrow items of luggage, the rear seat and backrest can be folded down asymmetrically. This means that you still have
room for three or four passengers.
Spaciousness and practicality, however, aren't the only reasons you'll want to own a Passat Variant. The appeal and the sophistication that it inherits from the Passat
are, according to some owners, further enhanced in the Passat Variant.

You'll just have to keep an open mind when you pay a visit to a Volkswagen Showroom near you. Because the possibilities that come with the Passat Variant are vast.

It also means that all occupants enjoy top level sitting comfort. The seats of the new Passat have many adjustments and adapt ideally to your stature.

In the final analysis, ergonomics and driving enjoyment are also concerned with an attractive appearance. The instruments, for instance, have blue illumination and red
needles. The materials used in the interior emphasise the high quality of the new Passat. Depending on the equipment version, the interior features Alcantara/leather
seat upholstery, decorative aluminum or burr walnut veneer insert; and steering wheels with wood or leather trim.

Exterior
If a car is a Passat Variant, this means one thing in particular: that
it has been well thought-out right down to the minutest detail - from the clear design and high level of functionality to the special quality of all parts.
Large sections of the body are produced in one piece. Together with computer-controlled laser welding and high-strength bonding, this ensures a precision fit and robust
connection of parts. Additional cross and side members give the whole vehicle considerably greater torsional rigidity.
|
With minimal, even joint dimensions the result not only looks good. The entire road behavior of the new Passat has been matched for a noticeably smoother, more
comfortable ride. You will also be pleased to hear that annoying creaking, grating, and wind noise has to a large extend been eliminated.
To protect against rust, the new Passat is fully galvanized for which your Volkswagen Dealer gives a 12-year warranty against rusting through. Good ideas simply live
longer.

Safety
For those who drive their cars day in day out, it is not only comfort and performance that count, but, above all, safety at all times and on all roads. A number of
interlinked systems are responsible for this - but above all, a carefully matched running gear.
The new Passat has a four-link front axle, a torsion beam rear axle, and an anti-roll bar at both front and rear. This ensures not only smooth, straight-line running,
but also exact cornering when steering into and out of bends. The running gear of the new Passat is designed for gentle understeering so that it is almost impossible for
the tail to break away uncontrollably.
Disc brakes all round, an anti-locking brake system (ABS) and electronic brake pressure distribution ensure that your new Passat is braked safely, and as quickly as
possible.
|
To assure a high level of active safety, the new Passat has an electronic stability programme ESP as standard. It continually compares the direction required by the
driver via a steering wheel sensor with the actual vehicle movement. If the system registers considerable deviation, it acts on the engine or brake management system
within milliseconds to ensure that critical situations do not arise. This additional safety should not, however, tempt you to be reckless, as ESP cannot offset limits
set by physics. An electronic differential lock (EDL) and traction control (TC) are elements of ESP and are therefore also included in the standard safety equipment of
the new Passat.
Driving always involves accepting responsibility for the environment and other road users, but also for yourself and your passengers. The comprehensive safety systems in
the new Passat will help you to do this.
The body has been constructed in such a way that the major part of impact energy in a crash is absorbed and distributed this is particularly important for a large saloon
like the new Passat. Specially reinforced structures absorb this energy and ensure that stress on the occupants is as low as possible. High-strength bearers in all four
doors prevent too high levels of deformation in a side crash. In this way, it can be largely avoided that parts of the vehicle penetrate too deeply into the
interior.
|
In addition, you and your passengers are protected by up to eight airbags. Two front airbags and two side airbags at the front - for the driver and front passenger - are
standard in the new Passat. You can opt for additional curtain airbags at front and rear as an optional extra.
They are fitted in the headlining and, in the event of an accident, cover all side windows. This means that there is, above all, even better head protection for all
passengers.
Other standard features included in the safety equipment of the new Passat are height-adjustable 3-point inertia reel seat belts with belt tensioners for the front seats
and outer rear seats.
