you expect nothing but the best for your family, there is now the Touran.
The Touran, Volkswagen's new compact 7-seater MPV, is built with your family in mind. Forget the five star rating for safety from the Euro NCAP. Ignore the fact that it
has six airbags and Isofix preparation for two child seats as standard. You can even over look the fact that its Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) gives it extra
precision on the road, or that the Touran has a low centre of gravity to help it handle brilliantly.
|
The truth is, this MPV makes long journeys with the kids a pleasure. With three 12-volt sockets, ideal for electronic games and gadgets, up to 35 cubbyholes for the kids
to seek out, and an option of five or seven seats (with the latter providing over 500 different seat combinations) - you'll never hear your kids screaming "are we there
yet?" ever again.
Touran. Because your family's safety comes first.

Interior
The seating in the Touran is extremely practical and offers a solution for every eventuality. You can extend the seating from the standard five to seven full seats
(optional extra) from one minute to the next or, just as quickly, reduce the seating to two - entirely to your requirements.
Maximum load space can be utilised by simply lowering the third row seats into the loading surface. The single seats in the second row can be folded together and then
folded again with the seat surface forwards. Passengers can still travel next to "double folded" seats in the second, and in the third row. This is made possible by a
special safeguard for folded seats.
If the centre second row seat is removed, the two outer seats can be moved sideways, independently of one another, for more head and shoulder room. However, the Touran
offers not only more than 500 seating combinations and a tremendous amount of space. You also have unhindered access as the tailgate can be opened at two levels. The
tailgate stays open at the first level, but can be opened even further for all those who need even better access to the load compartment. There are therefore plenty of
ingenious details and features.
This is what makes the Touran adaptable.

Exterior
State of the art technology, comprehensive equipment. The Touran represents a wealth of good ideas in a perfect frame. Talking about frames, Volkswagen car bodies have
extremely narrow gab dimensions and this exact fit of body parts ensures a high level of rigidity, lowers wind noise and optimises aerodynamics.
The Touran does of course have even more to offer: compact exterior dimensions and good visibility; and the exemplary features include turn signals in the door mirrors
which incorporate a lane change signalling function. As of the Highline the Touran is equipped with fog lights which make it easier for you to see and be seen in
conditions of poor visibility.
And if you would like a change of climate, a sliding/ tilting glass roof is available as an optional extra. The versatility of the Touran is also reflected in the
equipment options.

Active Safety
If you want to look at safety from a different angle, the Touran with a height of 164 centimetres gives you an excellent start. You not only have a good view of
everything but also a reassuring feeling of safety.
|
Assistance systems like the electronic stabilisation programme (ESP) and brake assist system with dual-rate function help to relieve
critical situations. All driving information is continually passed to the CAN bus of the ESP system. In extreme situations ESP acts on the
brake system or engine management within milliseconds to immediately restore stable driving behaviour. Additional safety is offered by standard electro-mechanic steering
with a driver steering recommendation function (DSR). This gives the driver steering recommendations via an impulse on the steering wheel. This results in greater
vehicle stability with less directional deviation and shorter braking distances.
|
The electronically controlled anti-locking brake system (ABS) is another safety feature. When full braking is applied it prevents wheel
lock, particularly on slippery road surfaces, so that your Touran remains steerable and you can safely negotiate obstacles. A parking aid with four sensors at the rear
is available as an option. This gives an acoustic warning signal as the distance between the vehicle and stationary obstacles narrows.
In addition, the Touran attained 5 stars and therefore top marks in the Euro NCAP crash test. This is what we understand by good all-round protection.
|
Passive Safety
The Touran offers exemplary occupant protection. Should the worst come to the worst, newly developed active head restraints for the driver and front passenger reduce
strain on the neck muscles and spine. In addition, there are 6 air bags, a 3 point inertia reel seat belt
system - also for the optional third row of seats - and ISOFIX mounting points for child's seats on both outer seats in the second row. An additional safety feature is
the reminder for the driver and front passenger to fasten their seat belts. The reminder for the front passenger is triggered by a weight sensor in the seat.
|
Pedestrian protection is also exemplary, A large distance from the bonnet to the engine and special foaming of the front bumper help to
considerably lower the risk of injury.
