    There're two ways for fire-retarding: Fire-retarding agent or fire-retardant polyol. Fire-retarding agent takes part in the reactor in form of addition agent. It takes up about 35% of the whole addition agent system. Usually it contains elements like halogen and phosphorous. When approached to fire, it'll generate a great deal of black smoke and poisonous gas, which disables it to be used in the fields that have high requirements, such as fire-retardant and environment protecting. Fire-retardant polyol makes it work by chemical reaction in which polyol is grafted with fire-retardant group and then brought into foam products, which makes polyurethane itself possess fire-retardant function. By bringing non-halogen and non-phosphorous fire-retardant group into common polyether polyol, there's no need for any fire-retarding agent, and also reduce other raw materials' quantity. which saves production costs; when approached to fire, it generates nontoxic, low density, white smoke, which reaches the requirements of all kinds of International fire-retardant and environment protecting authentication.

    Fire-retarding agent possess following functions: Decompose and generate non-inflammable substance when close to burning temperature; React with foam burning-left substance to generate non-easily-flammable substance; Decompose and generate substance that terminates the oxidation of foam free radical.

    Normally, the capacity of fire retarding is achieved by adding fire-retardant agent that contains halogen or phosphorous, or adopting POP with fire-retardant structure. This can enhance fire-retarding property to postpone combustion, retard smoke and even self-extinguish the inflamming part.

    PU foam is a kind of combustible polymer as others, with very low density and large specific surface area. It's easy to combust. When it burns, it'll generate a lot of poisonous smog. Since the high rate of opening cell, the oxygen index without fire-retardant is only 17-18. Due to high ventilation, abundant oxygen is provided continuously, which makes it inflammable and never self-extinguish. Thus modify the bad fire-retarding capacity is very protruding. Many markets such as building material, furniture, cushion, mattress, etc., in which PU foam widely applies, require fire-retarding.
