A high fidelity tactical environment simulation (TES) resides on the network. The TES provides physics-based models of aircraft and surface entities and weapons to truly immerse the warfighter into a high-risk, high-intensity training mission. Semiautomated, three-dimensional threat entities possess actual performance and emission characteristics. Threat models and weapons exhibit the realism necessary to depict weapons fly-out and scoring.
The visual system enables the pilot to fly in a high-resolution database of the Shaw AFB area. A desktop role-player station with a single-channel OTW and glass cockpit is integrated to demonstrate network training. The configuration also includes a PC-based Instructor Operator Station (IOS) based on the USAF F-16 Mission Training Center and the Israeli Air Force F-15 Flight & System Trainer. The IOS, developed by an Integrated Product Team of fighter pilots and simulator engineers, provides an operational-based graphical user interface and includes an integrated mission debrief capability with digital recording of cockpit video and audio.
Lockheed Martin has developed the Fast-Jet Training System to showcase the company's simulation and training product line. The system consists of technology and products developed via a combination of research and development and fast jet simulation programs. It is centered on a fast jet aircraft simulator, which includes a single-seat cockpit and aircraft simulation with a three-channel out-the-window (OTW) visual system.
