To use the Batch Processing feature, your machine will need to have the "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0" installed. If it is not already installed on your machine, it can be located on . You will need to download and install the ".NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package" which, at the time of this writing, was called "dotnetfx.exe". You will need the one that matches your system, x86 in most cases. NOTE: This is only needed for the batch processing mode. All other features of HandyAvi do not need .NET Framework Version 2.0 and will work properly without it.

The current version of "Microsoft? DirectX?" can be installed simply by using the Start button, selecting "Windows Update", allowing it to scan your system, then installing the current version of DirectX. (It will not be listed if you are already running the current version of DirectX.)
For best results however, DirectX 8.0 or higher should be installed on your machine.
