Workflows can be re-linked on-the-fly and then updated over-the-air without interrupting the application, enabling real-time updates and processes changes. Instead of traditional movement of large files over-the-air, Apacheta applications are highly granular with very few inter-task dependencies so updates can be easily deployed over-the-air quickly and inexpensively.
The ACE mobile workflow processor (AMP) is a sophisticated engine for processing workflows built using VisualACE Business Process Designer. AMP uses a series of building blocks called Apacheta ACE Methods which define tasks that are linked together to create a workflow. AMP caches workflow tasks and can predict future tasks based on past behavior for high-performance processing. Changing workflows is accomplished transparently by simply re-linking workflow definitions in the XML document, eliminating the need to hand-program complicated "glue" code required for workflow communication.
The MDS supports multiple communication methods, including bulk data upload and download through a cradle and real-time communication throughout the day over wired and wireless wide area networks. It also provides for the division of data over multiple communications paths, when available in the hardware, to utilize least cost routing and control wide area wireless costs. This allows for bulk transfer of less urgent information over less costly in-depot infrastructure and time-critical updates and invoice adjustments in real-time over wireless infrastructures. It includes an advanced least cost routing rules engine that determines what Manifests can be sent/received at any given time based on rules such as message priority, type of network, connection, time of day, location, Manifest size, Manifest age, and Manifest content.
