Kiosk software applications are very different from a desktop or web application. Pedipalp has designed our Kiosk Software to use standard web technologies. The KioEngine software handles
the execution of your content in a web application (ie, it is a hardened Microsoft Internet Explorer browser); however, the browser interface is hidden from the user. The title, menu, URL and
status bars are deactivated so that it isn't obvious to the user that they are running a web application. It provides security by preventing users and other processes from accessing the Windows
operating system, displays multiple attract screens when not in use and resets the application back to the home page.
The KioEngine software contains Upload Data functionality which is responsible for using XML to pass usage log and survey data to the Kiosk Management Server over the Internet using either a phone
line or WAN.
The KioEngine software contains Update Content functionality which is responsible for communicating with the Server to determine whether any content needs to be updated, and then downloading the
files in their proper location and configuring them as necessary.
Lastly , the KioEngine software also contains Remote Monitoring functionality which is responsible for sending status signals and events logged to the Server.
