Roll Forming Tooling Design/Software
Roll-Krafts Engineering Department designs both and and form . As specialists in all areas of cold-formed open profiles and welded tooling applications, the Engineering Department provides a broad
range of designs for welded round, square, oval, elliptical, and trapezoidal profiles, as well as complex, non-welded profiles.
The design and production teams work closely in all areas of inspection, reverse engineering, new or rework tooling, and manufacturing and testing, using strict quality and process control
procedures.
Roll-Kraft developed its original proprietary tooling design software in 1985. It was created to combine proven design practices and experiences gained since the company was founded in 1963.
The company continues to maintain and improve its design software. The current version has been updated to more efficiently assist the designers, when creating the flower (forming progression),
roll layout, drawings, material cut list, CNC program codes, and routing phases of the design process.
Roll Form (Open-Profile) Design Software
Roll-Kraft uses multiple seats of a design software called Copra (by data M Software GmbH) to assist in flower development and roll tooling design process. All tooling is manufactured using CAD
geometry, provided by the software to ensure accuracy and maximize quality.
In 2003, Roll-Kraft purchased the RF (data M Software GmbH) software. Specifically created for the tube, pipe, and roll forming industries, this software simulates the roll tooling design, in order
to predict the final result of the strip. This technology allows the designer to investigate multiple designs and materials and make any necessary revisions before the roll tooling is manufactured.
When used in a prototype or R&D capacity, the software provides a scientific approach to roll design.
