Subject cataloguing is supported by DDC and thesaurus based keywords. Very efficient tools make the development of DDC and thesaurus an easy task. Items can be marked as reference or lending.
Kitabdar is quite flexible and can catalogue even the newly appearing types of media. Descriptive as well as subject cataloguing is fully supported. The subject cataloguing goes down to the level of article/ chapter thus is ideally suitable for research-oriented libraries.
Cataloguing:
Starting with recording of demand, the process gradually covers Management Approval, Purchase Orders, Receiving and Inspection. Receiving of periodicals, non-periodicals and borrowed items have been dealt with separately. Finally accession number is allotted to the item.

KITABDAR is developed using Visual Basic and uses MS SQL Server RDBMS for data storage.
Backend Database:
KITABDAR can be used on stand alone PC as well as in multi-user environment using Microsoft Windows XP
