Kitabdar is quite flexible and can catalogue even the newly appearing types of media. Descriptive as well as subject cataloguing is fully supported. The subject cataloguing goes down to the level of article/ chapter thus is ideally suitable for research-oriented libraries.

Starting with recording of demand, the process gradually covers Management Approval, Purchase Orders, Receiving and Inspection. Receiving of periodicals, non-periodicals and borrowed items have been dealt with separately. Finally accession number is allotted to the item.

Designed in world-renowned reporting tool Crystal Reports, KITABDAR offers a number of standard reports with various user-friendly filter options. Reports can be exported to other file formats such as MS Excel, MS Word, Lotus, etc. The required reports can also be emailed or faxed.

KITABDAR is developed using Visual Basic and uses MS SQL Server RDBMS for data storage.
