For example, ecTrack has functions for managing the sheer volume of the email that goes back and forth during the course of an order - functions that allow rapid and intelligent searches, data mining, and so on.

In its simplest form, ecTrack can be thought of as a web-based project planning solution. Members of the supply chain access the ecTrack website and input key production events onto a timeline, with the objective of producing a single project plan that contains every event that will occur in the production of an order. The supply chain partners then collaborate and modify this plan until it satisfies all their requirements. Once they agree, a notification system is then setup that will trigger an email notification to the concerned party should there be any slippage from the approved project plan. This involves defining tasks, responsibilities, predecessor event logic, and hierarchies, among others.
